Nursing the Incontinent Patient

This course is a self-managed home study unit on urinary incontinence:

• based on a substantial 54-page printed manual, with 33 illustrations, that is mailed to students when they register
• includes a post test that is to be returned by mail after completion
• no time limit for completing the test

The curriculum includes:

• prevalence and impact of incontinence
• types of incontinence
• assessment
• management

The course focuses on first-line conservative management of stress and urge incontinence, using case studies.

It is suitable for all health professionals who provide care for adult patients with urinary incontinence, but are not necessarily experts in the field.
